At our January dinner meeting, the Fairlawn Fire Department was presented with a check for $1200 to purchase Hand-Held Gas Detectors from part of the proceeds from our 2013 Charity Golf Outing which also benefited Habitat for Humanity of Summit County. February 9, 2013: Towpath Chamber of Commerce members recently spent several hours volunteering with the Habitat for Humanity. On Saturday, February 9th, 7 members gathered at 2596 Kibler Road to sling drywall “mud” on the interior of the home. This is just one of the many community events planned for this year. To volunteer or get more information regarding future events call 330-836-4239.

June 22, 2012: Members and friends of the Towpath Chamber of Commerce joined forces with Habitat for Humanity on June 22 to assist with the new construction at 35 Royal Place in Akron. The crew was hard at work all day long erecting walls, driving nails and unloading supplies. Even though the work was hard and the sun was hot, all agreed they would definitely do it again to benefit such a worthy cause!

SCORE RECEIVES DONATION FROM THE TOWPATH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
July 19, 2011: Akron SCORE, an organization that helps improve the area economy through business counseling, received a $3,000 donation from the Towpath Chamber of Commerce (TCC). Shelia F. Hedrick, TCC President-elect, presented the $3,000 check at the July monthly meeting of SCORE counselors at SCORE headquarters, One Cascade Plaza. “SCORE is the premier counseling organization for entrepreneurs and existing businesses in the Greater Akron area,” said Hedrick. “SCORE counselors have been instrumental in helping new and existing businesses in West Akron. Just as important, however, is the fact that SCORE is helping to grow the economy in our entire area and to assist in creating and saving jobs,” Hedrick said.
